What is Balayage?
Balayage is a French word meaning "to sweep" or "to paint". This technique done on hair allows for a sun-kissed natural look with the principal idea where being subtle is more when creating soft, natural looks. Unlike traditional techniques, Balayage is applied on the surface and not saturated through the section. This creates a soft gradient that doesn't jumps out. Balayage technique is also often called freehand technique as no meche foil are used to create the highlights. We've written a post on the difference between the hair coloring technique of Balayage, Highlight and Ombre. You can find the Indonesian version here, and the English version here.
We've also written a post to describe the usual process it takes to get the desired Balayage hair coloring result and the level of bleaching it requires. You can check the Indonesian version here, and the English version here.
Does it require a lot of maintenance?
Very little. Because of its smooth transition, It grows out naturally so you don't get an obvious regrowth line and can wear it for longer between appointments. All you really need to do is protect it as you would any other hair color that you usually get - use color protecting shampoo and conditioner, give yourself regular hair treatments and heat protection when styling. If you're unsure of what hair color protecting shampoo and conditioner to use, do ask your favorite stylist at Alora - Hair, Beauty & Spa. Alora carries a range of products that you can apply at home to maintain the desired result for a longer period of time.

Always happy to be a customer of Alora - Hair, Beauty & Spa. As an actress and singer, I work with my hair a lot and despite constantly coloring them, they remained healthy and shinny given the treatment at Alora. They're also really kind to all their customers which is awesome!
